    Study Shipwrecks

    • The Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum gives you a chance to appreciate the maritime heritage associated with the Outer Banks. The museum, which opened in October 2002, displays a variety of artifacts salvaged from some of the 1500 shipwrecks found off the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. A few shipwrecks can also be seen at low-tide. As of 2009, the museum hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged to help support this project. The museum is located near the Ferry Landing in Hatteras Village at the end of Highway 12.
