What is Nebraskas state bird?

The Western Meadowlark is Nebraska's state bird. It was adopted due to a school childrens vote by the Legislature in 1929 which was ratified later on by the Governor which then designated the western meadowlark (Sturnella neglecta) as the official state bird of Nebraska.
