How to Book Air Flight Tickets

Booking a flight is easy. Use your computer or simply make a call. You also can go to the airport or contact a travel agent. Plan ahead and you can get lower airfares. Be flexible, if possible, with your travel dates, and if you need lodging or transportation, book together and save money. Once you book your flight you can choose your own seats, print your boarding passes from home and even check-in for your flight up to 24 hours before departure.

Instructions

    • 1

Make a flight plan. Decide on your travel dates, destination and the number of tickets you'll need to purchase. Children younger than 2 years old fly free as long as they sit in your lap on many airlines. Senior citizens receive discounts on airfare on some flights.

    • 2

Book a ticket online by visiting the website of the airline you want to use. Enter the city from which you are departing, the city in which you are arriving, the dates you want to depart and the number of passengers. Indicate whether or not any passengers are younger than 2 or considered senior citizens. Check with the airline for the definition of senior citizen.

    • 3

Browse the list of available flights until you find one you want. Flights differ based on price, departure time and whether they are no-stop or include layovers.

    • 4

Click on the flight you want to book and begin the process of purchasing your tickets. Enter the name, address and birth date of each passenger for whom you are purchasing tickets. Choose your seats from the plane's seating chart and enter your credit card information. Carefully review your purchase before confirming it, and print a copy of your confirmation page.

    • 5

Call your airline or visit your airline's ticket counter at your local airport. Provide the representative you speak to with the same information you would present when booking online. Pay for your tickets.

Contact a travel agent. Travel agent information can be found online or in the Yellow Pages. With your travel plans at-hand, discuss flight options with the travel agent.
