Texas' Seven Major Shipping Canals

Texas operates seven major ship canals/waterways:

1. Buffalo Bayou / Houston Ship Channel
2. Corpus Christi Ship Channel
3. Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (Texas segment)
4. Sabine–Neches Waterway (Port Arthur/Beaumont)
5. Matagorda Ship Channel
6. Brazos River & Diversion Channel
7. Freeport Harbor Channel

These connect Gulf ports to inland terminals, supporting petrochemical, agricultural, and container traffic. The Houston Ship Channel is the busiest by tonnage.
