Which vessels are exempt from being titled and registered in Mississippi?

Mississippi Code Title 45 Chapter 1

§45-1-27 Exemptions from numbering

The owner of each of the following vessels shall be exempt from the numbering provisions of this chapter:

(a) A vessel that is already covered by a number in full force and effect which has been issued to it pursuant to federal law or a federally approved numbering system of another state. If such vessel will not remain within this state for a period in excess of sixty (60) consecutive days, it shall not be required to be numbered in this state.

(b) A vessel exempt from numbering under federal law.

(c) A vessel whose owner is the United States, a state or a political subdivision thereof.

(d) A vessel used exclusively for racing.

(e) A nonmotorized vessel propelled by oars, paddles or sails.

(f) A livery that rents or leases boats for a period of less than seven (7) days.

(g) A foreign vessel temporarily using the waters of this state.

(h) A vessel which has a valid marine document issued by the Bureau of Customs of the United States Government or any federal agency successor thereto.
