What are the main sources of fresh water?

There are four main sources of freshwater on Earth:

1. Precipitation: This is the water that falls from the sky in the form of rain, snow, sleet, or hail. Precipitation is the primary source of freshwater for most of the world's population.

2. Surface water: This is the water that is found in lakes, rivers, streams, and ponds. Surface water is a major source of freshwater for drinking, irrigation, and transportation.

3. Groundwater: This is the water that is found beneath the Earth's surface in aquifers. Groundwater is a major source of freshwater for drinking, irrigation, and industry.

4. Desalinated water: This is the water that has been removed from salt water. Desalinated water is a major source of freshwater in areas where there is limited access to other sources of freshwater.
