Why does the Lake Erie water replaced so quickly?

Lake Erie's water does not get replaced quickly. The average residence time for water in Lake Erie is about 2.6 years, which means it takes about 2.6 years for all of the water in the lake to be replaced. This is relatively slow compared to other Great Lakes, such as Lake Superior, which has an average residence time of about 191 years.
