Building Water Slides in RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Step-by-Step
Want to add aquatic thrills to your RCT3 park? Water slides are in the **Water Rides** category. Here's the workflow.
Step-by-Step Construction
- Open Construction Tab — Top toolbar (hammer icon) or Ctrl+1
- Select "Water Rides" — Sub-tab with splash icon (3rd from left)
- Choose Slide Type:
- Body Slide: Open, fast, no vehicle
- Tube Slide: Enclosed, 1–4 person tubes
- Speed Slide: Steep, high-velocity, short
- Multi-lane Racer: Parallel lanes, competitive
- Place Station: Click map — **station = queue entrance + exit point**
- Build Track: Drag from station — **nodes = corners/drops**; Shift = vertical adjustment
- Complete Circuit: Connect back to station (auto-completes if close)
- Test Ride: Green checkmark → "Test" → verify excitement/intensity/nausea ratings
- Open Ride: Checkmark → "Open" — guests enter queue
Customization Tools (While Building)
- Height markers: Show elevation (critical for gravity-fed flow)
- Tunnel tool: Enclose sections (adds excitement, costs more)
- Scenery: Rocks, plants, theming — boosts **excitement rating**
- Color scheme: Per-track or per-vehicle
- Queue line: Extend, decorate, add shade/vending
Pro Tips
- Elevation drop = speed. Start high, end at pool level
- Pool required at end (auto-added if missing)
- Lifeguards: Hire via **Staff tab** — required for water rides
- Throughput: Tube slides > body slides (group loading)
- Weather: Slides close in rain/cold — indoor pools avoid this
Common Fixes
- "Cannot complete circuit": Station too high/low — adjust height
- Low excitement: Add drops, helices, tunnels, scenery
- High nausea: Reduce lateral Gs (wider turns), limit consecutive helices
- Guests won't ride: Check intensity/nausea vs. park demographic
Water slides are **high-capacity, moderate-thrill** earners. Cluster them in a **water park zone** with changing rooms, lockers, and food for maximum per-guest revenue.
