Wayward Bus Tours

The Wayward Bus Touring Company started in 1990 to take small groups of backpackers on trips around Central Australia and Alice Springs. After merging with Adventure Tours Australia Group in 2006, it is now one of Australia's biggest adventure-based travel companies for backpackers.
  1. Types of Tours

    • The company now offers tours all over Australia and New Zealand. You can choose anything from a one-day visit to Kakadu National Park, to a 63-day round-trip road tour of Australia. Wayward takes guests off the beaten track, and tries to make its tours both quirky and educational, with experienced and knowledgeable drivers/guides.

    Clients

    • The Wayward Bus Touring Company caters to anyone with a sense of adventure who wants to explore Australia, so you are likely to meet an interesting mix of people. Age does not matter, as long as you are reasonably fit for the hikes and prepared to camp out.

    Price

    • The two-day Kangaroo Island Tour costs about $360 per person (AUD $369), and a 10-day tour along Australia's Coral Coast is around $1,512 (AUD $1545), including food. You can get a generous discount by combining tours, and free overnight accommodation is provided between trips.
