Alaskan Cruise Lines and Train Sightseeing

Alaska cruise season runs from May to September, and a number of cruise lines sail along the coast of our largest state. Most Alaskan cruise lines offer train tours as part of a travel package, allowing visitors to have a more in-depth experience of Alaska.
  1. Princess Cruise Lines

    • Princess Cruise Lines operates a Cruisetour program, which allows guests to tour Alaska by train for several days at the beginning or end of their cruise. The Princess Rail service operates from Whittier, Alaska, and travels round trip into Denali National Park along the historic Alaska Railroad. The Princess Railroad trains feature glass-top domes, allowing visitors to view the scenery along the trip to one of the cruise line's lodges near the park.

    Holland America Line

    • On certain Holland America cruises, guests can opt to take scenic train rides as shore excursions. One option is to ride the cruise train from the port of Seward to Anchorage, where you can view glaciers, canyons, waterfalls and the forest through a glass-topped train car.

    Royal Caribbean International

    • Royal Caribbean also operates a train service into the interior of Alaska--The Wilderness Express. Travel on this glass-domed train is offered on 19 of Royal Caribbean's 21 Cruisetour packages and travels between Denali and Fairbanks.
