Sights and Sips event cruises, available from the San Francisco port, sail through the bay area in the afternoon or evening. Afternoon cruises last two hours, include a narration of local history and highlight the San Fancisco downtown skyline, Coit Tower and Alcatraz Island.
This cruise is geared towards both visitors and locals, and meal and beverage service is available for purchase. The evening cruises are two-and-a-half to three hours and thus tend to be a bit more expensive. The cruise begins right before sundown, and includes DJ entertainment, dancing, and a complimentary glass of champagne. Meals and beverages are also available to purchase.
The Angel Island and Amazing Race cruise tour is available from both Berkeley and San Francisco ports. This cruise event is more of a "team-building" excursion, geared towards families or teams of co-workers. Angel Island is a state-run national park that offers views of the San Francisco skyline, the Marin County Headlands and Mount Tamalpais. Included in this cruise are scavenger hunts, photo recreation activities, spy games, on-board breakfast and a picnic lunch on Angel Island.
The Alcatraz Discovery two-hour lunch cruise departs from the Berkeley port and circles Alcatraz Island, the famous former prison, and briefly passes Angel Island State Park. A guide narrates the history of Alcatraz, focusing on both its past as a prison and the natural features of the island itself as well as a bit on the history of Angel Island, which is sometimes called the Ellis Island of the West Coast. A gourmet lunch buffet with seasonal fare is included in this tour as well.
