Southern Caribbean Cruises Departing From Florida

The southern region of the Caribbean sea is considered a sub-continent of North America and has islands that are just north of South America. This area is home to such islands as Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, St. Lucia, and Aruba. The closest place to sail to the southern Caribbean from in the U.S. is the state of Florida.

    • The Carnival Miracle sails out of Fort Lauderdale for an eight-night cruise to the Southern Caribbean sea. This ship has stops at St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles, Castries, St. Lucia, and Basseterre, St Kitts. In addition to these three ports of call (which fall one right after the other in the middle of your cruise), travelers will get to relax with four complete days at sea.     • Holland America also offers a Southern Caribbean cruise from Fort Lauderdale on its ms Westerdam ship. This ship sails to Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas, then spends a day and a half at sea before arriving at Aruba followed by Curacao, Netherlands Antilles the next day. Finally, the ship turns around and travel two full days at sea back to Florida. The ms Westerdam holds about 1,800 passengers. The ship has several lounges and bars, a casino, and a full theater that features live, original productions.

    Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas

    • If you are looking to sail out of Miami, Royal Caribbean offers an 11-night cruise on its Jewel of the Seas. This cruise sails from the Port of Miami and give guests two full days at sea before arriving at Oranjestad, Aruba. From there, the ship stops at Cartagena, Colombia; Colon, Panama; Puerto Limon, Costa Rica; and George Town, Grand Cayman. In between all of these ports of call, the cruise has an additional three days at sea, bringing your sea days to a total of five. The Jewel of the Seas is a newer ship (launched in 2004) and is considered the most beautiful of the Radiance class. This ship is known for its abundance of glass windows and stunning views. The ship features such amenities as a day spa, rock wall, and casino.
