Cruises Out of Greece

Piraeus, the largest port in Greece, is a popular embarkation port for cruises to the eastern and western Mediterranean, Turkey, Greece and the Black Sea. Often referred to as Piraeus/Athens for its close proximity to Athens, Piraeus is located on Greece's northwestern coast. Cruises out of Athens/Piraeus have both round-trip and one-way itineraries to ports such as Rome and Venice in Italy, Istanbul in Turkey and Barcelona, Spain.

    • Departing from Athens/Piraeus, the Azamara Quest ofers 10- and 12-day journeys to ports in Italy, Turkey, Greece and the Black Sea. Cruises are one-way and go to final destinations in Istanbul and Venice. The 11-deck Azamara Quest, which was built in 2000 and refurnished in 2007, has a passenger capacity of 694 and a crew of 390. The Azamara Quest cruises are from June to August.

    Holland America Cruise Lines

    • The 11-deck Westerdam, which was built in 2004 and refurbished in 2007, departs from Athens/Piraeus in one-way and round-trip excursions for 12, 24, 36 and 42 days to ports in the eastern Mediterranean. Passengers journey to ports in Greece, Turkey, Italy, France and Spain, and final destinations on these one-way journeys are Rome/Civitavecchia in Italy and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The cruises are in September and October, and the Westerdam has a passenger capacity of 1,926 in addition to its crew of 800.

    Oceania Cruise Lines

    • The Nautica departs from Athens/Piraeus to ports in the western Mediterranean, the Black Sea and Turkey. Journeys are offered in 10- and 12-day one-way cruises, with final destinations in Istanbul and Barcelona. The 11-deck Nautica, which was built in 2000 and refurbished in 2007, has a passenger capacity of 634 and a crew of 400. Departures out of Athens/Piraeus are in June and September.

    Princess Cruise Lines

    • The Pacific Princess and Ocean Princess leave Athens/Piraeus in one-way trips for seven, 12 and 14 days to eastern and western Mediterranean ports and the Black Sea. The Pacific Princess has 12-day journeys to final destinations in Rome/Civitavecchia and Venice. Cruises are in July and August and include port stops in Turkey, Greece and Italy.

      The Ocean Princess departs Athens/Piraeus to its final destination in Rome/Civitavecchia. One-way cruises aboard the Ocean Princess, which are in September, have seven- and 14-day itineraries, with port stops in Greece, France, Spain and Italy. Both the Pacific Princess and Ocean Princess have 11 decks. They were built in 1999 and remodeled in 2002. Each has a passenger capacity of 670 and a crew of 373.

    Silversea Cruise Lines

    • The Silver Spirit and Silver Wind journey to the Black Sea and Mediterranean out of Athens/Piraeus in one-way cruises for seven and nine days. The Silver Spirit has seven-day trips with port stops in Italy, Greece and Turkey. Cruises depart from June through August with final destinations in Venice and Rome/Civitavecchia and Istanbul. Built in 2009, the 11-deck Silver Spirit has a 540-passenger capacity in addition to a crew of 376.

      The Silver Wind departs from Athens/Piraeus in nine-day one-way journeys to Istanbul. Cruises go to port stops in Turkey and Greece, with departures in June. The nine-deck Silver Wind, which was built in 1994 and refurbished in 1995, has a passenger capacity of 296 in addition to its crew of 210.
