What happened before the river thames?

The river Thames was formed during the last ice age, around 10,000 years ago. Before the river Thames, the area that is now London was covered by a vast ice sheet. This ice sheet eventually melted, creating a series of lakes and rivers. The river Thames was one of these rivers, and it gradually eroded its way through the landscape to create the valley that it flows through today.
