MG stands for Morris Garages, a British automotive brand that was founded in 1924 by William Morris. The company began as a tuning shop for Morris cars, but eventually began producing its own vehicles. MG is best known for its sports cars, such as the MGB and Midget, and for its role in motor racing. In 2005, MG was acquired by a Chinese automotive company, SAIC Motor.
