Why is Stanley sent to camp green lake?

Stanley Yelnats is sent to Camp Green Lake for a crime he did not commit. He is accused of stealing a pair of shoes from a famous basketball player, Clyde Livingston. The truth is, the shoes actually belonged to Stanley's great-grandfather, who had been framed for the theft of a valuable artifact called the "Sunflower Seed". The shoes had been passed down through the family for generations, but Stanley was wrongfully blamed for the theft and sent to Camp Green Lake as punishment.
