Why is Stanley sent to camp green lake?

Stanley Yelnats is sent to Camp Green Lake for a crime he did not commit. He is accused of stealing a pair of shoes from a famous basketball player, Clyde Livingston. The truth is, the shoes actually belonged to Stanley's great-grandfather, who had been framed for the theft of a valuable artifact called the "Sunflower Seed".
