Skating on Niagara Falls is physically impossible. The falls comprise three waterfalls (Horseshoe, American, Bridal Veil) on the Ontario–New York border, with a vertical drop exceeding 160 feet (49 meters). The water flow is extremely turbulent, violent, and aerated, creating chaotic currents and spray. The surrounding gorge walls are sheer rock cliffs. No ice forms on the falling water, and even the river below is treacherous. The falls are a force of nature, not a skating rink.
