To grease the bearings, you will need the following tools and materials:
A grease gun
SAE lithium-based grease
A rag
A jack and jack stands (optional)
Instructions:
Park the trailer on a level surface.
Chock the wheels to prevent the trailer from rolling.
Raise the trailer with a jack and jack stands if necessary.
Locate the grease fittings for the bearings. They are usually located on the outer side of the hub, near the wheels.
Clean the grease fittings with a rag.
Attach the grease gun to the grease fitting.
Pump grease into the bearing until new grease starts to come out of the seal.
Wipe away excess grease with a rag.
Repeat steps 5-7 for all of the grease fittings on the trailer.
Lower the trailer with a jack and jack stands if necessary.
Repeat this process every 10,000 to 12,000 miles or once per year, whichever comes first.
NOTE: If you cannot grease the bearings using a grease gun, please take your trailer to a certified mechanic for inspection and service.
