Sun and weather cause travel trailer tires to deteriorate. Sidewall cracks will begin to appear on unprotected tires. Prevent sidewall cracking and premature wear by using tire covers that are available at all major RV outlets. Cover the tires every time you park to extend the life of your investment.
Find the tire size in the owner's manual for your travel trailer. Choose the best tire you can afford. Consider how often you use the travel trailer and how far you drive it every year. Terrain and weather conditions are another consideration. For winter travel, purchase tires rated for snow. All-season radial tires are the best choice for non-winter travel.
Wheels are what the tires mount on. There is little reason to replace the wheels that came with the travel trailer unless they are damaged or you want a custom look. Purchase wheels specifically designed for travel trailers at a local RV shop. Do not use wheels for cars or trucks, as they may not be able to handle a fully loaded trailer.
