How to Winterize a SunnyBrook RV

Winterizing a SunnyBrook RV is an important maintenance task that keeps an RV safe, clean and functioning. Autumn is the ideal time to winterize an RV, since many of the steps need to be completed prior to freezing temperatures. The steps necessary to prepare the SunnyBrook RV vary depending on the model and features of the particular vehicle. Refer to the owner's manual or contact the manufacturer for winterizing information specific to the model and amenities in your RV.

Instructions

    • 1

Open and drain the fresh water and the hot water tanks. Use a bucket if necessary to catch the water.

    • 2

Drain the gray water and black water tanks. Use the bucket to dump clean water into the toilet and sink of the RV to flush the tanks further.

    • 3

Clean the black water tank using a tank cleaning wand.

    • 4

Open the faucets, showers and toilet valves to allow for the draining of water in the lines.

    • 5

Attach an air compressor into the fresh water connector and turn it on. Follow manufacturer instructions for use. The air compressor forces excess water from the lines.

    • 6

Close the water heater valve and insert the fresh water line into a container of antifreeze, says "The Camping Source," an magazine and online website. Run the fresh water pump and turn on any faucets until antifreeze comes out of the faucet, indicating that antifreeze has traveled through the line.

    • 7

Remove the fresh water line from the antifreeze and turn off the faucets. Close any open valves.

    • 8

Place a small amount of antifreeze into the toilet and sink.

    • 9

Close interior blinds and ensure that the inside and outside of the vehicle are clean and dry. If the vehicle is housed outdoors, cover with an RV cover.

    • 10

Turn off any appliances and turn off gas valves. Cover vents to keep rodents and insects from entering the vehicle. Place rodent traps and insect traps inside to guard against damage from animals.

    • 11

Cover tires exposed to the sun to prevent damage.
