How to Hitch a Ride on a Train

Many people are fascinated with trains. Johnny Cash wrote songs about them. People spend hundreds and thousands of dollars building miniature trains and collecting them. Western movies make it look exciting to run along the tracks and catch a moving train. Before you write, "hitch a ride on a train" to your things to do list, plan for the adventure and consider the risks.

      Determine where you want travel. If you go to the next town or city you won't need to take much, but a longer trip will require a clothing bag, food and money.
