Make time for a sip of wine. Most of the trains stop at the Montparnasse station on their way from the wine regions of Bordeaux. Get off the train in Paris to enjoy the local culture.
Activate your rail pass. You must find a ticket booth before boarding the train. Once an attendant has stamped your pass and you have shown your passport, your ticket will be valid for the day.
Use the entire rail pass during your trip. A rail pass is similar to a subway ticket; if you use only part of the ticket, the rest of it is not refundable. After you book your ticket, it becomes valid once you board the train.
Include adequate transportation funds if you have a long layover. If your train stops in Paris for an extended period, purchase the Paris Visite pass from the train station so you can travel via public transportation while you tour the city.
Research your final destination. You can choose from four stations in Bordeaux and three stations in Strasbourg. Find out which station is closest to your hotel or car rental location.
Travel quickly. If you book a high-speed train, the entire trip will take under 10 hours. The trip from Paris to Strasbourg alone is approximately 4 hours long.
