Ride the TGV trains. These swift trains are options for certain legs of the trip and can cut the 12-hour travel time.
Compare prices between point-to-point tickets and rail passes. Rail passes can save you money. Either way, expect your train tickets to fall within a moderate price range.
Plan enough time between connections when you travel. When you change trains at the station, you may need more time than you would at an airport.
Absorb the sights of the stops before the train reaches Nice, which include Toulouse, Montpellier and Marseille.
Customize your vacation. Choose from different cities to visit on your way to Nice. Set aside a few hours to stretch your legs and explore the area.
Rearrange your trip if an unexpected occurrence delays your travels. Your rail pass should be valid for up to 6 months.
Remember that you will have to change trains. There are four train stations throughout Bordeaux, but no train travels nonstop to Nice.
