Book your train tickets by visiting the RailEurope Web site. See the Resources section below for a link. You can also call (888) 382-RAIL.
Select either a single ticket or, if you'll be traveling throughout Poland, a PolRail Pass. Note that the latter is good on only PKP trains.
Choose the speed of your train. Local trains are cheap, but very slow, and stop at every town along the journey. TLK trains are faster, but don't always offer reserved seats. Express trains are the most efficient and most expensive, and require assigned seating.
Purchase tickets for travel from Warsaw to Gdansk up to 60 days in advance. While you can book tickets at the Warsaw train station, it is recommended you do so online prior to travel for guaranteed seating.
Upgrade your standard ticket to a reserved seat directly at the Warsaw station or via the train's conductor.
Arrive at the Warsaw station and find your departure platform. Yellow posters highlight departures and white posters show arrivals.
Follow signs to the proper platform, called "Peron" in Polish.
Check signboards at the platform that indicate where you board the train. This is especially applicable if you have a reserved seat.
Present your ticket to the conductor when requested. This will occur after you have taken your seat.
