Book your tickets online up to 11 months in advance to reserve a business or coach class seat. Business class comes with a welcome beverage, a snack pack and in-seat entertainment.
Arrive on-time at the station. The train only departs once a day from Rutland, and the schedule changes on the weekends. The station opens about an hour and a half before the train departs.
Pay half price for 2 children with a full price adult fare. Children are ages 2 to 15. Infants are free, but must be seated on the lap of the adult.
Upgrade to a business class seat for the most comfortable trip from Rutland. With Rutland being the first station, you will have your choice of seats on the two-level business class car.
Plan your trip around the seasons if you are taking the train ride for the scenery. You can easily see the blooming of spring wildflowers, rolling summer fields and the changing of the fall leaves from aboard the train.

Pack a book or game to entertain you for the 5-hour, 20-minute train ride from Rutland to New York City. Headphones must be worn in the quiet car when watching movies or listening to music.
Plug in laptops and portable DVD players in business class seats. Limited plugs are also available in coach, but they are few and far between.
