Take any one of the hourly trains to Tampere from Helsinki's main station.
Travel on the InterCity2, Express or Pendolino trains; these all go from Helsinki to Tampere in about 2 hours. The shortest time is on the Pendolino high speed trains, which can get you to Tampere in just under an hour and a half.
Be prepared to pay between 20 and 30 Euro for your trip each way.
Check ahead for discounts for group and underage travelers, as you can save up to 50 percent on your travel this way.
Inquire about pets. If you are traveling with a four-legged companion, find out which trains have pet compartments to accommodate your needs.
Be sure to ask about access for disabled passengers before you book your tickets. All stations and trains make allowances, so you should have no trouble.
Look at posted timetables for diagrams of on-board services. These include meals, bathroom facilities, disabled access points, pet compartments, power adapter use and much more.
