Hotels Nearest to Haysi, Virginia

Haysi, Virginia is a town in Dickenson County, and, according to the Worldlingo website, this small town of less than 200 was named after two partners in a local store, Hayter and Sypher. Haysi is located at the confluence of Prater Creek, Russel Fork River and McClure River. Breaks Interstate Park is about 20 minutes north of Haysi and offers spectacular scenery, hiking, paddle boats, water bikes and guided horseback rides.
  1. Breaks Park Lodge, Cottages and Cabins

    • A 20-minute drive north of Haysi in Breaks Interstate Park, you can choose to stay in an 82-room lodge, one of four two-bedroom cottages, or in one of five three-bedroom luxury cabins that back onto Laurel Lake. The cabins each feature a screened-in hot tub and large back deck. The park is known for its whitewater rafting, and you can challenge class five rapids in a raft, kayak or canoe. Area recreation possibilities also include geocaching, golfing and music events at the park's amphitheater. Although there are no restaurants in the park, catering for events can be arranged and the lodging comes equipped with kitchens.

    Comfort Inn Grundy

    • The Comfort Inn Grundy is a half-hour drive east of Haysi and offers a free breakfast with hot waffles and a fitness center. Nearby restaurants include Dobson's, Huddle House, Italian Villa and the Little Big Horn Steakhouse. Council Park in Grundy has a swimming pool, picnic shelters, a tennis court, and two 100-year-old log cabins to tour.

    Southern Heritage Inn

    • In Clintwood, half an hour west of Haysi, the Southern Heritage Inn is a quiet and comfortable family-owned-and-operated hotel with 22 rooms. The Southern Heritage Lodge is a bed-and-breakfast adjacent to the inn. Nearby restaurants include Valentino's, Dari King and Huddle House. The Ralph Stanley Museum and Traditional Mountain Music Center is less than a 10-minute drive from the hotel. This state-of-the-art interactive museum lets you see and hear bluegrass music in its original setting. The museum is in a 100-year-old four-story home.

    Brookshire Inns

    • The Brookshire Inns is in Pikeville, Kentucky, an hour's drive from Haysi, and features a continental breakfast. Children under 18 stay free. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and feature king-size beds. Try the nearby Vernisage Restaurant for a blend of Russian, Eastern European and Middle Eastern dishes. If you visit in April, check out Hillbilly Days of Pikeville, which attracts more than 100,000 people annually. Jenny Wiley State Park is about a half-hour drive from the hotel and it offers picnic spots, horseback riding, and boating.
