Pocahontas, VA Hotels

The town of Pocahontas, Virginia, came into prominence during the beginning of the coal-mining days in the region, and was responsible for the Pocahontas #3 coal. Its main attraction is the Pocahontas Exhibition Mine and Museum, which is a National Historic Landmark. A five-mile run is hosted each year in April to celebrate the opening of the museum. The Pocahontas Cemetery features graves over 100 years old, including a mass grave of miners killed in a mine explosion in 1884. A number of hotels are available in the area for those visiting the museum or participating in the five-mile run.
