The East Coast Surfing Championships are held here annually and in 2010, the sandsculpting championships were based on the beach. You can cycle the length of the beach along a purpose-built pathway or take a leisurely walk though the Busch Gardens.     • The Beach Spa Bed and Breakfast is a mini spa resort, situated a few blocks from beach. Eight of the guest rooms have private bathrooms with hydro massage or jetted tub. You can walk through the retreat and enjoy the butterfly bushes or cascading waterfall or take a dip in the heated outdoor pool. It is rare to find a hotel that offers a relaxing massage after your breakfast. As of September 2010, the cheapest option during summer is the queen sized room which costs $149 per night.

    • The privately owned Ocean Cove Motel offers resort apartments or cottages to rent on Virginia Beach. This is an option if you have a family. For example, the 24th Street cottage sleeps up to eight people and has its own kitchen, dining area and parking space. It is only a short walk to the beach. Angie's Guest House next door is part of the same company, and offers further accommodation including apartments and home style lodgings.

    Seagull Hotel On The Beach

    • In operation for more than 40 years, the Seagull Hotel offers a bicycle rental, indoor pool and jacuzzi and seaviews from its own Little Feets Cafe. You can choose from a king room, or super sized efficiency rooms depending on how people are in your party and whether you need easy access to the beach. Between October and May room rates start at $60 per night. This rate rises to $130 per night in July and August, as of September 2010.
