The historic Inn at Crotched Mountain was built in 1822 as a farmhouse, and was once a stopover on the famous Underground Railroad, which aided escaped slaves to get to Canada. The inn offers 13 comfortable bedrooms that are decked out with antiques. The inn has an outdoor pool and two clay tennis courts. Breakfast is included in the price of a room. Local restaurants include Malarkey's Restaurant, a five-minute drive away, Alberto's Italian Restaurant five miles away and Pickity Place 15 miles away.
The Crotched Mountain Resort is located in Francestown on the slopes of Crotched Mountain below the ski resort. The resort offers one- and two-bedroom suites that are fully equipped with the usual amenities as well as a fully equipped kitchen and washing machine and a dishwasher. Less than five miles to the south of Francestown, and home to the Greenfield Inn, is the village of Greenfield. The inn is an old country mansion that has been converted. There are just nine guest bedrooms in a number of configurations, all full of Victorian charm. Some have a Jacuzzi or whirlpool tub and some a shared bathroom. Breakfast is a full, hot buffet, but you'll have to travel a little further afield for lunch or dinner. Malarkey's Restaurant is seven miles away and Alberto's Italian Restaurant about 10 miles away.
The Henniker Motel is located beneath the Pats Peak ski area in the small New Hampshire town of Henniker, about 18 miles to the north of Francestown. The guest bedrooms have a selection of the usual amenities and there is an indoor pool for the use of registered guests. There's a complimentary cup of coffee when you rise, but for breakfast you'll have to try the Pancake House a short walk away or Daniel's Restaurant & Pub, also in the village. In winter there is a snowmobile trail accessible from the motel that is part of the state's 6,000-mile trail network.
