Motels in Homosassa, FL

The small town of Homosassa is located in Citrus County and is 60 miles north of Tampa. The population was 2,294 as of the 2000 census. The town lies in a heavily forested area between Route 19 and the Gulf Coast. This is an area of unspoiled waterways fed by natural springs, home to manatees and other marine life. The Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park is located next to the town. The attractions in the region make it a popular holiday destination, and you can choose from a number of motels in the area.

    • MacRae's Motel is located on the Homosassa River. Here you can relax in a rocking chair on the porch of your guest room and view one of the best fishing regions in the world. Take an air-boat trip with Captain Chuck Dean from the motel's private jetty and explore some of the crystal-clear grassy flats that surround the town. Some of the guest rooms at MacRae's have kitchenettes, but if you feel like dining out, you'll find a number of restaurants, including the Marguerita Grill and the Riverside Crab House, within five minutes of the motel. MacRae's also has its own riverside pub, the Shed.

    • The Last Resort Motel has just six guest rooms housed in three cabins that are elevated on stilts and located alongside the Homosassa River. All guest rooms have a modern, fully equipped kitchen, and barbecue grills and picnic tables are available outside just 20 feet from the river's edge. If you own a boat, you can launch it from the motel's slip. Nearby restaurants include Neon Leon's Zydeco Steak House and the Freezer Tiki Bar, both within 10 minutes of the motel. Homosassa Springs is less than three miles away by car or boat.

    • The Bella Oasis Inn and Spa is located next to the Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park. You receive a complimentary continental breakfast each day at the Bella Oasis. More restaurants and shopping is available less than five minutes away in Homosassa Springs. Also nearby are the Sugarmill Woods Country Club and the Southern Woods Country Club.

The Blue Moon is located just a mile from the entrance to the Homosassa State Wildlife Park, and has its own canal that links to the Homosassa River. Blue Moon has a large pontoon boat and several canoes that you can hire by the hour or by the day to explore the river.
