East Bernard, Texas, a quaint little railroad town, was settled on the east side of the San Bernard River in 1850 by Jethro Spivi. It was relocated to the east side of the river in 1869 when the train depot, Bernard Station, became the center point. Officially named a town in 1874, East Bernard has grown to a population of 1,729 as of 2010. The town is located at GPS coordinates (29.528, -96.066) and the junction of U.S. 90 Alt. and SR 60 near the towns of Eagle Lake, Wharton and Rosenburg, Texas.
