In Ontario's downtown, the Driftwood Inn Motel provides rooms for tourists to the Kickapoo Valley. The hotel has a few different-sized rooms from which to choose. A few dining options are available in the village, and all of them are within a half-mile of the hotel. Rent a canoe for your trip down the Kickapoo from either Titanic, Mr. Duck's or Drifty's Canoe Rental, which are all within a few blocks.
The Mid-Trail Motel in Wilton, eight miles north of Ontario, calls itself "probably the smallest hotel in the state," but size isn't everything. The four rooms, two of which include kitchenettes, are non-smoking, but ashtrays are provided on the balcony. There are a couple of dining options; Gina's Pies Are Square and Pettera Country Thyme are both about a block from the hotel. Take a ride on the Elroy Sparta Bike Trail, which can be accessed about a block away.
Sixteen miles east of Ontario, the Hotel Hillsboro in Hillsboro offers road-weary travelers in the area lodging in a non-smoking environment. Your stay includes a complimentary continental breakfast, served daily. Relax after a long day with a dip in the heated indoor pool or spa. The hotel boasts a full-service restaurant and sports bar, Breezers. Other dining options are a few blocks walk and include Holvy's Cafe and Catering, Friends Restaurant and Tiger Town Tavern. Spend a day trout fishing in one of the many cold water streams of Wisconsin's Driftless Area, about a 40-minute drive away.
In Wonewoc, 21 miles east of Ontario, the Garden City Motel offers rooms with one or two beds. The local area offers two bars and a restaurant a few blocks walk from the hotel. The Elroy Sparta Bike Trailhead is adjacent to the hotel, or head over to Spring Valley Golf Course, a nine-hole course less than a half-mile away, to shoot a round while you are in the area.
