The world-renowned Brookhaven National Laboratory, known for research in national security and energy technologies, and biomedical, physical, and environmental sciences, operated by the U.S. Department of Energy is located in Ridge, which is a town located on Long Island, New York. Much of Ridge is bordered by state land, and there are very few places to stay in town. However, hotels are within easy proximity.
