About 50 miles east of Seattle, the Alpental ski slope in Washington offers 302 acres of ski terrain and a vast 523 acres of backcountry. With 444 inches of average annual snowfall and 75 percent advanced trails, Alpental is known for deep powder and technical terrain. Although hotels convenient to the mountain are sparse, other types of accommodations can be found around Alpental and nearby Snoqualmie Pass.
While hotels are not abundant along the Snoqaulmie Pass portion of the Cascade Mountains, vacation homes for rent are. Guye Peak Lodge is a 2,850-square-foot cabin-style A-frame home with three bedrooms and four bathrooms. It features a barbecue grill, large stone fireplace, and all the amenities of home like a garage, washer and dryer, full kitchen and dishwasher. There is a two-night minimum and rates range from $279 in the summer to $429 per night in the winter plus a $195 cleaning fee, as of January 2011.
With group room rates, catering and conference rooms, this lodge amongst the Cascade Mountains is optimized for group get-togethers and meetings. The Summit Lodge accommodates conferences from small to large with up to 150 attendees. Covering nearly 2,000 total square feet, a conference organizer can choose between three different rooms as well as an "Alpine Room" for board meetings of up to 12. Four different room styles start with the standard room with coffeemakers, television and wireless Internet. The deluxe rooms add a microwave and refrigerator, a "Kachess Suite" has a full kitchen and suits families and other small groups, and the "Denny Creek Suite" is a two-room intimate suite targeted at couples.
Beginning as a bed and breakfast in 1916, Salish Lodge and Spa now features a fitness center, two dining facilities, therapeutic soaking pools and a variety of massages. Situated at the bottom of the 268-foot Snoqualmie Falls, the lodge offers unique panoramic views. Situated between Seattle and the Snoqualmie Summit at Alpental, Salish guests benefit from a large variety of nearby activities including fishing, golf, hikes through the falls and a local winery tour. The rate, as of January 2011, is $186 per night.
Located seven miles from Alpental ski area, Wallace Falls Lodge caters to weddings, receptions and other special events. Nearby Wallace Falls offers an all-season trail and a five-mile round-trip hike from the lodge. A marriage log exists in the center of the lodge where couples who wed there can carve their names. As of January 2011, the rate for a small wedding with under 10 people was $450, or up to 30 guests for $750. Additional rooms rent at $110 per night. Being a bed and breakfast, the lodge also offers single occupancy rooms for $99 per night.
