Lying next to the George Washington National Forest and with a rich tradition, Mount Jackson is an attractive escape destination for Virginians. Named in honor of President Andrew Jackson, who was a frequent visitor, the town played a significant role during the Civil War and visitors can still see the historic building of it, several of which served as Confederate and Union Army's field hospitals. Even though Mount Jackson's population is just over 2,000, there are hotels within the town's premises and nearby.
The Super 8 hotel franchise operates a property right in the middle of the town. The pet-friendly property offers high-speed wireless Internet, an outdoor pool, a small business center and a meeting room. Nearby restaurants include Denny's, Wendy's and Baskin-Robbins. Less than 15 minutes away from the hotel on foot are Confederate Cemetery and the Art Group Gallery.
Another accommodation within the premises of Mount Jackson is the Widow Kip's Country Inn. It's not a massive property, offering only five guest rooms in the main house and two cottages. Instead it bets on its relaxing atmosphere and provides its guests with a pool and close proximity to horseback riding and golfing. Nearby attractions include the Maize Quest Corn Mazes and the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, both a five-minute walk from the property.
Located five miles away from Mount Jackson, but right next to the I-81, the trip from Blue Ridge Inn to Mount Jackson is only a matter of minutes. The hotel offers basic of in-room amenities, a playground, a basketball court, a picnic area and a barbecue. The property is less than five miles northeast of New Market Airport. Nearby dining options include Johnny Appleseed, Burger King and Jalisco Mexican.
The Quality Inn is situated in the nearby town of New Market, seven miles south of Mount Jackson. The property provides an outdoor seasonal pool, an exercise room, as well as a meeting room. Burger King and Johnny Appleseed can be found right next to the hotel, while a McDonald's is within a five-minute walk. A 10-minutes' walk to the east, you will find a Civil War shop and the New Market Area Library.
