Hotels Near the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary

The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary is located on East 14th Street, a short walk from Union Square, close to Greenwich Village and served by a number of Metro stations. It is also surrounded by a variety of restaurants, and there are various nearby hotels from which to choose.

    • Union Square Inn is located on East 14th Street, just a few minutes' walk from the Eye and Ear Infirmary and opposite Third Avenue-34th Street Metro station. The hotel has a European-style coffee shop serving sandwiches and pastries, but a variety of restaurants can be found nearby including the Red House Restaurant, which is practically next door and serves Chinese cuisine, and Professor Thoms' Bar and Restaurant nearby on Second Avenue.     • Just a five-minute walk from the Eye and Ear Infirmary on East 17th Street, this budget hotel was used by Woody Allen to film "Manhattan Murder Mystery." A number of celebrities including Madonna have stayed here, taking advantage of its location near Greenwich Village. Rooms are simply furnished but with all necessary amenities including cable television. Most rooms have private bathrooms but some have shared facilities. Rooms are available from $69 as of January 2011.

    W Hotel Union Square

    • The W hotel is located on Union Square Park, a 10-minute walk from the Eye and Ear Infirmary and close to the boutique shopping of Fifth and Sixth avenues. The hotel is within walking distance of several Metro stations, providing transport to the rest of Manhattan and beyond. It offers a range of rooms and suites of various sizes, all boasting wireless Internet, television and DVD player. The W also boasts a choice of places to eat including its relaxed bar The Living Room Lounge and Olives restaurant, founded by the critically acclaimed chef Todd English.     • A more expensive option, located a 12-minute walk from the Eye and Ear Infirmary, is the Gramercy Park Hotel. Close to the park and around the corner from the 23rd St. Metro station, the Gramercy Park describes itself as "Bohemia reinvented for the 21st century," thanks to its combination of modern artwork, antique furniture and bold colors. Its 185 rooms are individually designed with their own specially chosen items of furniture and varying layouts. Residents have access to a gym and exclusive rooftop bar. As of 2011, rates start at $340 for a superior double room.
