Chapman Kansas is a small town with a population of approximately 1,600 residents and is primarily a farming and military community, founded by Irish settlers in 1855. Located in Tornado Alley, Chapman suffered a severe tornado in June 2008 that destroyed over 60 homes and caused major damage to 80 percent of the town. The town is also home to astronaut Joe Engle.
