The town of Keokee, Virginia, is just south of the Kentucky state line. The Library of Virginia states the origin of the town is a mystery, but it was established in 1910. Close to popular Lake Keokee and surrounded by national forests, this small town has a population of just over 300 people. There are no hotels located in Keokee, however, many nearby towns have hotels located just a few miles away.
Located just east of Keokee, Big Stone Gap offers the nearest hotels. Big Stone has a Comfort Inn, which features wireless Internet in all the rooms and the Huddle House Restaurant, which offers breakfast 24 hours a day, on the premises. Big Stone Gap also has the Country Inn, which allows for pets to stay at the hotel. And, there are a number of fast-food restaurants in town, including Burger King and McDonald's.
Norton is just northeast of Big Stone Gap. The town features four hotels including the Super 8, Holiday Inn, The Inn at Norton and the Days Inn. The Super 8 offers free parking and 24-hour front-desk service. The Holiday Inn has the TroutDale Steakhouse located on site. The hotel allows for pets to stay in the rooms with you. The Inn at Norton has a nightclub attached. All rooms have high-speed Internet access and can come with microwaves upon request. The Days Inn offers 24-hour front-desk service and cable television in all rooms.
Located to the west of Keokee Pennington Gap offers the Convenient Hotel. The hotel has an outdoor pool open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Ruby's Steakhouse is located behind the hotel. Each fall Pennington Gap hosts the Tobacco Festival, which has a parade, 5K run, home cooking competitions and live music and dancing.
Wise is located to the east of Keokee just a few miles from Norton, VA. Wise has two hotels--a Best Western and a Super 8. The Best Western offers free Internet, free breakfast and an indoor swimming pool and fitness facility on site. The Super 8 also offers high-speed Internet access. Pets are welcome for an additional fee. Each room comes with a refrigerator and "Super Start Breakfast." Wise also has a number of restaurants including the Bonanza Steakhouse and China Garden. Go for dessert at the Dari-Barn, which is the local ice cream shop.
