Black Hawk, Colorado, is one of the oldest cities in the state, incorporated in 1864 as a gold mining town. In 1991, Black Hawk legalized gambling, paving the way for the 16 casinos that call the city home. The city also has an historic downtown area with buildings left from the mining era. A number of the casinos also include hotels. A free shuttle service provides transportation between the casinos.
