Oologah, Oklahoma is a small community 20 minutes northwest of Claremore, best known as being the birthplace of cowboy entertainer Will Rogers. Oologah’s historic downtown features a museum and several buildings on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Oologah Bank building, which offers visitors a glimpse of what banking was like when Oklahoma was part of Indian Territory. Trips to the area often include a visit to Will Rogers Ranch, a living history facility on the site of Will Rogers’ birthplace.
While Oologah does not offer hotel accommodations, those wishing to stay closer to the lake and downtown can rent a cabin at Redbud Marina.
