Florien is located near the northwestern border of Louisiana. It's a small village and as of the 2000 census, there were 692 people living in Florien. Florien also is home to a resort golf course with an attached hotel. In addition to the golf resort hotel, there are more hotel accommodations available less than a mile north of Florien proper.
The Emerald Hills Golf Resort offers hotel guests two swimming pools and an 18-hole championship golf course. The golf course is available to hotel guests, but it's located across the street at Hodges Gardens. In addition to the amenities, Emerald Hills has hotel rooms and spacious suites. Attached to the hotel is Mulligans Bar and grill that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner overlooking the golf course. Reservations are recommended and you must be over 21 years of age to stay at the Emerald Hills Golf Resort.
Located just a few minutes north of Florien up the 171 is the Starlite. The Starlite is AAA approved and has just recently undergone a major renovation to update all of its rooms. The hotel offers 24-hour front desk service. Wireless Internet access is available at the Starlite. There's a restaurant attached the hotel that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. No pets are allowed, but the Starlite does offer free parking. Parking is also available for trucks.
Several miles west of Florien is the Toledo Bend Reservoir. Overlooking the reservoir is the Cypress Bend Resort and Hotel. The resort features a championship golf course, banquet facilities, fishing and fine dining. The hotel offers double queen guest rooms, king leisure guest rooms and king suites. All the facilities at Cypress are nonsmoking. The resort has two dining rooms: the Sabine Social and Cypress Cafe, where guests can enjoy chef prepared meals.
Toledo Town Inn is west of Torien along the Toledo Bend Reservoir. Toledo Town is a moderately-priced hotel. All rooms at the hotel come with a television, small refrigerator and microwave. Next to Toledo Town is a restaurant where hotel guests can purchase breakfast, lunch and dinner. The parking lot is fitted with electrical outlets for trolling motors and recreational vehicles. The large spaces in the lot are large enough to accommodate trucks and boats.
