Palisades Center Mall in Nyack, New York is a very large shopping center which is also a major social center for people from the surrounding area. Teenagers frequent the facility for its movie theater, restaurants and game center while their parents shop the stores. The mall is just over the Tappan Zee Bridge from White Plains, New York and is about a 1/2-hour drive from midtown Manhattan. Bear Mountain State Park and the West Point Academy are also nearby.
The Nyack Motor Lodge is a well-liked budget option motel along route 303, steps from the mall. Pets are allowed in this somewhat dated but clean independent property with the basic amenities and little more. Rooms feature cable TV, comfortable beds and bathroom. A bit further from the mall than the Nyack Motor Inn but still within walking distance, the Best Western Nyack on Hudson is a retro-looking hotel with an oversize roof and a cocktail lounge. The hotel is an odd mix of budget accommodation and throwback style with live dancing and entertainment every weekend and high-speed Internet access.
