Carlsbad, a small city in the southeastern portion of New Mexico, is home to many recreational and tourist activities, such as Lincoln National Forest; the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens State Park; Carlsbad Caverns National Park; and the Carlsbad Museum. Several lodging options exist near Ural Street with most being along the city's main road, U.S. 285.
The Holiday Inn Express and Suites, like all other hotels in Carlsbad, is located along U.S. 285 in the northern part of the city. One of the more modern-looking hotels in the area, the Holiday Inn and Suites offer quiet surroundings while being close enough to downtown Carlsbad to enjoy any sites and activities the city has to offer. The hotel is just three miles from the local airport as well. A large indoor pool complements the amenities along with a fitness center. As of 2011 the hotel has last been renovated in 2007. The restaurant offers no on-site dining except complimentary hotel breakfast. Plenty of eateries are situated along Route 285, however.
US Travelers Inn and Suites is located one block north of the Holiday Inn Express and offers much of the same in surroundings than that property. The hotel specifically also has an indoor pool and fitness center as well as free continental breakfast. It's important to know that while many hotels are beginning to switch to the pet-friendly format this hotel prohibits pets from the property. In order to visit the Carlsbad Caverns National Park which is one of the most visited areas of the city, you will have to drive about 15 minutes south past downtown Carlsbad.
The Trinity Hotel, the only luxury hotel in the city, is in the heart of Carlsbad main shopping district farther south along Route 285. The historic building was built in 1892 and has preserved its look from that era. The small property has limited rooms along two floors but features a robust wine and restaurant bar on the first floor. Free New Mexico wine tastings take place every day from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The spacious rooms are equipped with flat-screen televisions and Trinity Hotel bath robes. The caverns are just minutes away.
Located six blocks south of the Trinity Hotel is the Executive Suite and Hotel. This two-story hotel features an on site restaurant, room service and outdoor swimming pool. The hotel provides complimentary airport transportation to it visitors. The hotel is pet-friendly and is close to the Carlsbad commercial district, Carlsbad museum, and the Carlsbad Caverns National Park all of which are within five miles of the hotel.
