What Cities in Texas Are on the Coastline?

The Texas Gulf Coast Region runs from Louisiana to Mexico and encompasses 624 miles. Rich in coastal wildlife and Texas history, there are alligators in the northern swamps and migrating waterfowl in the south. Numerous cities dot the shoreline, and many were established in the nineteenth century.

  1. Port Arthur

    • Situated on the northern coastline, Port Arthur is home to McFaddin and Texas Point National Wildlife Refuges, along with the Museum of the Gulf Coast.

    Corpus Christi

    • Located on the southern coastline, Corpus Christi is an urbanized city with dining, entertainment, shopping and cultural events.

    Port O'Connor

    • Home to Matagorda Island State Park and Wildlife Management Area, Port O'Connor is known for its commercial fish and shrimping operations.

    Port Aransas

    • Not far from Corpus Christi, Port Aransas is a fishing capital where fresh seafood and fish abound. It is also part of the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail.

    Clute

    • The annual Great Texas Mosquito Festival is held in Clute, a tiny burg about 45 miles from Houston.

    Nassau Bay

    • Nassau Bay's claim to fame is NASA-- the Johnson Space Center and Space Center Houston, and is a quiet, residential community.
