In central Japan, Hata is an approximate 3.5 hour drive west of Tokyo. Hata is actually a district of Matsumoto City, which is located between the Japanese Alps and Utsukushigahara Heights. The city is home to several attractions and events throughout the year, including museums, a sake brewery and the Shiga Fukujuso Festival, a springtime festival in March. There are several hotels in Matsumoto near Hata. Many of these hotels offer Western-style rooms, though are also traditional Japanese accommodations.
