Morgantown, West Virginia, may be a small city, but it was ranked the third best small town in America by "Men's Journal" in 2004 and the 12th hottest small city by "Inc. Magazine" in 2006. Located in Monongalia County, it is the home of West Virginia University, which hosts many sports, music and art events all year-round. The city is filled with small shops, plenty of places to eat and outdoor activities such as hiking, golf and water rafting.
Although there aren't any hotels on Clay Street, there are a few good choices nearby.
The Waterfront Place Hotel is located west of Clay Street in the Wharf District. The building overlooks the Monongahela River and has 205 rooms and suites. It offers free Wi-Fi, luxury bedding and modern amenities, as well as access to the indoor pool, spa and fitness center.

The Clarion Hotel is located downtown just east of Clay Street. It's near West Virginia University, four miles from the Mountaineer Mall and close to local hospitals and the Morgantown Municipal Airport. The historic hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is minutes away from Prickett's Fort State Park and Coopers Rock State Forest.
All of the hotel's guestrooms have cable TV, free Wi-Fi, a microwave, refrigerator and a computer hookup. In addition, Clarion Hotel offers room service, free coffee and a free newspaper Monday through Friday. It also has the Pinnacle Club, a restaurant on the eighth floor that overlooks the city, and free valet parking from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day.
Guests can access the exercise room and business center. Free use of the copy and fax machine is offered. Guests also receive a free continental breakfast. The hotel does not allow pets.

The Euro-Suites Hotel is located in the heart of Morgantown and east of Clay Street. It's close to West Virginia University, local hospitals, restaurants and shops. It is the only eco-friendly hotel in the city, with its green-certified amenities and use of nontoxic cleaners.
The hotel offers 75 suites that all include a kitchenette and high speed Internet. It offers a full complimentary breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres, as well as free Wi-Fi throughout the building. You have the choice of one king or two queen beds and receive a free newspaper in the morning.
