Downtown El Paso is in the midst of a revitalization begun in 2007. Several projects are underway to complement the existing attractions already in the historic area. The Arts Festival Plaza, the El Paso Museum of Art and the Plaza Theatre highlight the artistic aspect of the city. Cleveland Square Park, Insights El Paso Science Museum, Railroad and Transportation Museum and the El Paso Museum of History offer much to do when staying downtown. Shops, restaurants and nightclubs populate the district as well.
Considered El Paso's "grand hotel," the Camino Real was built in 1912. In addition to being a national historical landmark, this luxury hotel features the Dome Bar, crowned by the original Tiffany dome. Each guest room features satellite television and guests have access to a swimming pool and gym. The hotel is adjacent to the convention center and the performing arts center.
The Gardner Hotel is where old meets new in El Paso. History is abundant at the city's oldest inn.
