New Suffolk, New York is located near Cutchogue Harbor on the east end of Long Island. Once a booming port and shipbuilding center, New Suffolk is now a community of just 337, as of the 2000 census. While New Suffolk itself does not offer lodging, the towns of Southampton, Riverhead and East Hampton feature a variety of lodging options less than 16 miles away.
At approximately 8 miles from New Suffolk, across the Peconic Bay, Southampton offers the widest choice of hotel options. Hamptons Resorts Hospitality offers large guest rooms and suites with "retro-hip" décor. The property features a number of amenities and activities, including an outdoor pool,
playground, tennis courts and fitness room.
The Enclave Inn features newly-remodeled guest rooms with seasonal rates available, an outdoor pool and private wooded area. The Tudor-style Southampton Inn is located in the middle of Southampton Village on five acres of manicured grounds. Village Latch Inn, known as a celebrity getaway, offers individually styled rooms within walking distance to both a white sandy beach and Southampton Village. It also features a heated pool, tennis and nearby fitness studio.
Riverhead is located nearly 13 miles from New Suffolk, and features a couple of relatively budget-friendly hotels. The Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites is a clean, straightforward option in a central location that offers a daily breakfast buffet. Hotel Indigo features contemporary décor, a large outdoor pool and a newly renovated 24-hour fitness room.
Fifteen miles from New Suffolk, East Hampton is another beach town with varied hotel choices, which can be quite luxurious. East Hampton Point Inn Suites and Cottages is located in a secluded marina area, and offers accommodations either in its two-story cottages or new Palmer House Suites. Both offer views of the harbor, private decks, fine linens and private spa bathrooms. East Hampton Point Restaurant offers both fine and casual dining on-site.
East Hampton is also home to The 1770 House, a private residence built in the 18th century, now converted into an intimate hotel characterized by the steep staircases and exposed wooden beams of the period. Its cozy dining room offers highly-praised entrees by a four-star chef, while the downstairs tavern provides pub fare and drinks. The 1770 House is within easy access to the beach and high-end shopping on Main Street.
