Oberlech, Austria, is a ski village perched approximately 5,600 feet up the Austrian Alps, in the heart of ski country. The town features a wide variety of ski-in, ski-out hotels to suit a variety of budgets and styles. Because the main winter activity is skiing, all hotels in the area offer ski storage and a variety of other related services. During the winter, Oberlech is car-free, as most vehicles cannot make it up the mountains. Access to the area is via cable car only, although many hotels offer secure car parking at the base of the mountain for a daily fee. The town also features a tunnel system connecting most of the buildings in the area.
The Hotel Goldener Berg has been open since 1930 and is a luxury, family-run establishment. The hotel has rooms, suites and apartments, all of which have complimentary breakfast, robes, velvet slippers and private bathrooms. Many rooms have private balconies or terraces. Children are welcome at the hotel, those under the age of 12 stay free. The hotel is also pet-friendly for an extra nightly fee.

Each room at the hotel Sonnenburg features a view of the surrounding mountains, a private bathroom, television, safe and bathrobes. A few rooms and suites have private balconies and terraces. The hotel has a wide range of children’s services, including an after-dinner kids movie, free baby-sitting and a play room.
Guests can ski out the front door of the hotel and a ski rental shop is located on the lower floors of the hotel area. Lift tickets and passes can be purchased at the hotel’s reception desk. The area’s children’s ski school is located just outside the hotel’s front door.
The Sonnenburg Wellness Oasis has an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and fitness center. Massages are available for an extra fee. The hotel’s restaurant serves Italian, Asian and Austrian buffets daily, and room service is available 24 hours.
The Hotel Montana is owned by the family of Olympic and world skiing champion Patrick Ortleib, and has two buildings; the main lodge and the chalet, which are connected by a tunnel. The all rooms and suites have private bathrooms, baby monitors, telephones and televisions. A few rooms have Jacuzzis and balconies. The hotel offers free shuttle service to and from local train stations and airports.
Ski pass and lift ticket services are available in the hotel. The area’s ski school is adjacent to the hotel’s grounds, and a large rental shop is also nearby. Guests can ski out of the lower level of the building. The hotel has a restaurant and wine cellar on-site. Additionally, some meals can be served on the heated outdoor sun terrace. A wellness center includes an indoor pool, sauna, steam bath and solarium. Massages are available for an extra fee.
